Ushinatta's Game

Follow me in my journey to making my first video game !

GameMaker Studio

Why I chose this Engin ?

When I decided to make a game, I didn't think of anything at all. The game engin was not even in my mind.

I was watching a twitch stream from a dev game and at some point, he just said "Go make game" as in : We don't care it's good / bad or anything else, just make what you can do, what you want to" .

That resonated in me directly, and he was using Gamemaker on stream, making his own game and saying it was free.

So I took it. ( I've bought the licence since then as it is a one time fee ) and learn to use it.

As I feel more confortable with this game engin, I'm founding out what I can actually do and I enjoy it !

Solo Self Dungeons

My Game is called Solo Self Dungeon and it is a 2d top down type of game.

The game has a mixed of feature that are seen in my favorite video game, including titles like World of Warcraft and Path of exil.

You have a character for wich you'll chose between two classes for different approches in game play.

In the game HUB, you'll have access to a house where portals are taking you to the dungeons you can play and an NPC that'll let you buy items to make your dungeons more difficult. The second house available has an NPC where you can try to have a gear part that drops from the previous dungeon you did ... or not !

Dungeons have three separate zones and each have certain types of mob but also, each have a boss. To get to the second zone, you'll need to kill a certain amount of mob and the boss of the first zone. etc. The bosses' portals appears only if you killed the amout of mob of the zone you currently are in. All that has to be done in a certain amount of time. Finishing it on time grants you two chests at the end of the dungeon. The first one is a currency chest, and the other one is a potential piece of gear, you you also might not get one ! Not finishing the dungeon in time gets you only the currency chest, with less currency than if you would have finished it.

Every dungeons also have difficulties, there are 4 main difficulties :

Standard ( Colored white )
Heroic Colored Blue
EpicColored Purple )
Legendary ( Colored Dark Pink )

The Legendary difficulty can become more difficult by going to the NPC in the dungeons room to trigger the upper difficulty.

The gear colors on their icons reflects their level. Those are the same from the dungeons colors.
Classes
Two Classes to chose your game play. The Putrid Knight gives infections to enemies that exploses and the Nature Sage  immobilises and dots the enemy !
Dungeons
6 dungeons awaits you ! Each of the dungeons have its own visual identity, traps, mobs and bosses. Difficulties starts at Standard and go beyond Legendary !
Gear Grinding
Upgrade your gear by doing dungeons, collecting currencies and doing bigger dungeon difficulties. The more gear you have, the easier it gets ! Or does it ?

Important blog entries

Here are three entries in the blog that are important to understand how I tackle the development of my game

To do list

Without a to do list, I would not be able to do correctly the game. I would do a bit of everything at the same time and be frustrated of not going forward or not feeling to have done anything.

Here is my blog entry for the to do list.

This list is updated everytime I'm going forward in the development and each task are being lined over when their done !

Current Visuals

At the moment, the visuals is fully made with free assets found here and there to represent all you'll see and where things should be.

Here is my blog entry about the current visuals.

Demo ?

There will be a demo, yes.

As for the final product, their should be play test / alpha or beta versions before the demo is released.

Here is my blog entry about the demo.Go to the blog page
